A la Esmeralda se le han atribuido a través de los tiempos virtudes extraordinarias como fidelidad, amor eterno y protección irradiando buena energía a quien la porta, en gemoterapia, desde tiempos remotos se ha utilizado en la sanación.

El fascinante color verde de nuestras gemas es de una variedad de Berilo gracias al cromo y vanadio y va desde el verde hierba de las minas de Muzo, pasando por el verde azuloso de Chivor, hasta el verde amarilloso de los cristales de Coscuez; generando más de 100 matices diferentes cada una, las minas se encuentran en la cordillera oriental de los Andes, en los departamentos de Boyacá y Cundinamarca en el corazón de Colombia, la formación de las Esmeraldas Colombianas es única ya que se forman en rocas sedimentarias y su cristalización se da por acción hidrotermal. Siendo única en el mundo la variedad conocida como trapiche por sus inclusiones radiadas de carbón.

Su valor depende de cuatro factores muy importantes asociado a su talla:

Color, Pureza, Brillo y Tamaño.

Su peso es representado en quilates, un gramo es igual a cinco quilates y un quilate se divide en 100 puntos.

Dentro de las esmeraldas más famosas y reconocidas a nivel mundial se encuentra FURA con 15.000 quilates la más grande del mundo; TENA con 2.000 quilates la más valiosa del mundo, y la EMILIA con un peso de 1.759 quilates.

Colombia is the first producer of Emeralds in the world. They are considered the largest, most brilliant, varied and beautiful together with its pleasant and incomparable green color. It is considered our identity and national pride.

The fascinating green color of our gems is from a variety of beryllium thanks to the chrome and vanadium and it goes from the grassy green of the Muzo mines, to the blue green of Chivor, to the yellow green of the crystals of Coscuez, generating more than 100 different hues in each.  The mines are found in the oriental mountain range of the Andes, in the departments of Boyaca and Cundinamarca, right in the heart of Colombia. The formation of the Colombian Emeralds is unique. They are formed in sedimentary rocks and its crystallization is due to hydrothermal action. The variety known as trapiche is unique in the world due to its inclusions radiated with carbon.

The value depends in four very important factors associated with its cut: Size, Color, Purity, and Brilliance. Its weight is represented in carats; one gram equals five carats and one carat is divided into 100 points.
